The day of nirvana

Tomorrow is Vesak day. With practically 42% Buddhist population, this day, which is the birth, enlightenment and passing of Gautama Buddha, is a Singapore holiday.

Since it is already school holiday here and Vesak falls on a Thursday, Sallie and I decided to take time-off from work this Friday as well to have sometime together under the sheets with the kids.

Coincidentally, tomorrow also happens to be World No Tobacco Day. Go smoke-free, goddammit!
"Tobacco is the second major cause of death in the world. It is well known that half the people who smoke regularly today – about 650 million people – will eventually be killed by tobacco. Equally alarming is the fact that hundreds of thousands of people who have never smoked die each year from diseases caused by breathing second-hand tobacco smoke."--extracted from WHO website

This ain't a scene, it's an arms race

Here's a site that claims to be a "regular antidote to the mainstream media". I was reading "peace" and "equality" the American way and it reminded me of those "baboy-damos" (people, mostly kids scavenging, "mistaken" to be wildboars) shot dead when the US military base was still in Pinas.

Hayyyy!

Dreamteam

They are no Nowitzki, Anthony and Wade alright, but they really are my dreamteam.

It's NBA play-offs season and can't help but wander how my fascination with the game rubbed on my kids. I'm rooting for the Phoenix Suns. With the way Steve Nash plays, it won't be surprising if he gets his third consecutive MVP.
